Turtle Beach Recon 70 VS 200

Turtle Beach is a pretty famous brand when it comes to headphones. They create solid-quality headphones that you can use on a day-to-day basis. Their products are pretty affordable and manage to provide an impressive audio quality. Turtle Beach Recon 70 and 200 are two of the best headsets for ps4 and pc by Turtle Beach, but which one would be better to buy?

Read this entire article and find out the main differences between them if you want to know! When talking about Turtle Beach headphones, you can’t avoid talking about their Recon line-up. Today, we will look at the Turtle Beach Recon 200 vs 70 so that you can determine which one is worthy of your investment.

What You Can Expect From Both Headsets?

The Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 70 and Ear Force Recon 200 are wireless headsets that offer superb sound quality, comfort, excellent battery life, and compatibility with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

The primary difference between these two headsets is that Recon 70 offers 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound while Recon 200 delivers Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Both of which produce amazing surround sound quality and will allow you to enjoy every audio detail to your fullest.

So, if you are looking for a headset that provides surround sound on all your gaming consoles but is compatible with your mobile devices, you should go for Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 70. On the other hand, if you want an excellent-sounding headset that’s affordable, and can work with most of your gaming consoles, then Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 200 will not disappoint either.

Moreover, these headsets come with a retractable microphone, so it’ll be easy to take calls when you need to. Both have a similar design and weight, so it won’t make much of a difference when choosing between them as far as comfort goes.

They also come with detachable cables so you can easily replace them in case they get damaged or lost somehow. If we had to choose one over another; though, we would say Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 70 is slightly better due to its 7.1 surround sound capabilities.

This makes it more immersive and adds more depth to your games, making them feel more realistic than ever before. Plus, it costs just $10-$20 less than Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 200, making it even better value for money.

Recon 70 Vs Recon 200: Noise-Cancellation

If you want to play games with your friends online but also need to be able to hear them speak, Turtle Beach has got it. The chat functionality on all Turtle Beach headsets allows you to engage in-game simultaneously and voice communications without ever having to remove your headphones.

You’ll never have another gaming session spoiled by someone who wants you to turn down for a second so I can hear what she said. The best part? You can get all of these features without paying any extra money! It’s like having two sets of headphones for half the price.

These days that is a fantastic deal. We think Turtle Beach makes some of the best value products on the market, and their Recon line continues that tradition while offering something completely new: incredible sound quality.

The audio quality is impressive, but both Recon 70 and 200 do not feature noise cancellation technology. But both the devices feature thick cushiony earcups, which manage to eliminate most of the unwanted surround sound from your surroundings.

Thus, you can’t expect much when it comes to noise cancellation from both the devices, but they sure will limit the noise from your surroundings to bother you during your music/gaming sessions.

Recon 70 Vs. 200: Surround Sound

Most new games support 5.1 surround sound, while many titles support 7.1 surround sound. However, we’ve found that it isn’t always worth spending extra for a pair of headphones that supports 7.1 in our tests; the improvements aren’t always noticeable over a pair that only offers 5.1 audio playbacks (it depends on how well-produced your game is).

If you want to go all out with one of our favorite gaming headsets, we suggest checking out Turtle Beach’s Recon 70. Its price has fallen since it was first released in 2015 (which makes them an even better deal), and it sounds almost as good as some headphones that cost twice as much.

Recon 200 Vs 70: Battery Life

The major difference between both Turtle Beach Recon 70 and 200 is that one can be used wirelessly while the other doesn’t. The Recon 200 features a solid battery life of 12 hours on a single charge which is pretty reliable.

However, some in-game sounds (gunshots) will run your battery down quickly, just like with any other wireless headset. But if you are watching videos or listening to music, you can get a lot more use out of them.

Meanwhile, Recon 70 does not offer wireless connectivity therefore there is no issue with battery life with this one. However, fortunately, you can use Recon 200 with wires as well. So, if you want a device that features both connectivity options, Recon 200 might be your best option. It all depends on your preferences and which one you think will suit your needs.

The sound quality is pretty good for both the devices, especially considering how inexpensive they are. The bass isn’t as powerful as some might want it to be, but they have clear highs and mids, making gaming pretty enjoyable. Thus, before choosing anyone, check out all of the aspects to be sure about your needs.

Recon 70 Vs. 200: Comfort

Comfort is something that plays a very important role when it comes to headphones. Both are now sporting plush and very comfortable synthetic leather-covered ear pads, making them a cinch to wear for long gaming sessions.

We have to give it to Turtle Beach in terms of comfort: If there’s one thing they’ve gotten right over Logitech, it’s how comfy their headsets feel. These new Recon headsets are both good at keeping your ears from feeling fatigued even when you game for hours on end.

These new headphones also come with padded headbands that make them easy to wear for long periods without any discomfort. And if you want to up your comfort factor, Turtle Beach offers optional velour-lined ear cushions that fit over those stock cushions.

The only real downside is that Turtle Beach doesn’t include those cushions in the box; instead, they’re sold separately for $20 a pair.

Recon 70 Vs. 200: Connectivity

It is important for gaming headphones to be compatible with multiple devices. So that you can use your devices with any gaming console you want, whether it is PlayStation or Xbox. But when it comes to Turtle Beach Recon 70 and 200, the compatibility options vary a bit from each other.

The Recon 200 comes compatible with the Xbox X series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, PS4/5, and Xbox One. But if you want to connect it with an Android device or IOS device, that will not be an option for you.

This is where Recon 70 takes the win as you can connect it with both Android and IOS devices, along with Linux, Mac, and Windows, along with all the options that are available for the Recon 200 model. Thus, when it comes to having a wide range of compatibility options, Recon 70 is the one that is a better option.

So Why Buy the Newer Model?

The Turtle Beach Recon 200 offers everything you could want from a gaming headset. It has RGB lighting and virtual surround sound that can be customized, meaning you can tweak things to your preferences. You also get high-quality audio through 40mm drivers and an integrated boom mic with noise-canceling capabilities.

It all adds to a supremely comfortable experience on PC, Xbox One, or PS4, but if you’re looking for something a little cheaper, there’s always Turtle Beach’s Recon 70. It’s identical to its higher-end sibling except for the price.

And while it lacks some of the more advanced features of its bigger brother, like customizable RGB lighting and virtual surround sound, you still get Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound and a dedicated boom mic. So why buy the newer model?

If money is no object (or you love Turtle Beach), then go for one of these headsets; they’re both fantastic choices. But if you don’t need those extra bells and whistles (and have a few extra bucks), consider picking up Turtle Beach’s previous model instead.

Differences Between Old And New

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 and its big brother, the Recon 200, look very similar. Their earcups are circular (the newer version has a pattern printed on them); they feature a rounded frame. The only significant difference between them is that they have different patterns on their earpads and their materials vary slightly.

The Recon 70’s earpads are made of leather, while those of its more expensive sibling are microfiber material built to last longer than traditional fabric earpads. Aside from these details, they’re pretty much identical. Choose between them depending on your preferences in terms of looks or durability.

Why The Turtle Beach Recon 70 Might Be Your Best Bet?

When it comes to gaming headsets, not all are created equal. Turtle Beach’s best known for its Call of Duty line of headsets, but what you may not know is that there are different models within those lines.

If you’re searching for a quality headset but don’t want to shell out $150 for a Turtle Beach pro elite, look no further than their Recon series. The Recon 70 might be one of Turtle Beach’s less expensive options, but it still has most of what gamers look for in quality headphones.

Its flexible mic easily pivots into place and stays where you put it. Its volume control dial is present on an adjustable boom mic arm. Moreover, its cushioned ear cups are comfortable and will keep your ears cool during marathon gaming sessions.

Thus, if finding the best headphone for gaming is your priority, we will recommend getting Recon 70 over 200 due to the more detailed audio quality.

Turtle Beach makes a few different headsets. The Turtle Beach Recon 200 is a surround sound headset, while the Turtle Beach Recon 70 is not. It’s important to note that they are different products despite being similar in appearance and do not work together.

If you want surround sound, go with the Turtle Beach Recon 200. If you don’t care about surround sound, go with Turtle Beach Recon 70.

Also, if you want one or two more buttons on your controller for chat functions (like muting your mic), get Turtle Beach Recon 70 because it has more buttons than Turtle Beach Recon 200 does.

However, if you have an Xbox One X or PlayStation 4 Pro and want 7.1 virtual surround sound for gaming purposes (which I would recommend), get Turtle Beach Recon 200 because it has better quality speakers than the speaker’s Turtle Beach Recon 70 does for gaming purposes.
