It gets irritating as most people don’t know how to fix pressure spots on laptop screens, and the only option they get is to replace the screen altogether.

But how do you fix pressure marks on your laptop screen? Pressure marks, or dents, can be caused by many things, such as heavy objects being dropped on the laptop or another person leaning on the computer while it’s closed. They can also occur if you keep on poking your display screen with your fingers or some other object.

Pressure marks are usually very shallow, so they may not need an entire strip of tape to fix. However, know that the pressure marks appear when you physically damage the inner surface of the LCD panel of your laptop; thus, you will need more than tape to fix it.

In the guide below, we have mentioned everything you need to know to fix pressure marks on laptop screen. Check out these steps to learn how to deal with this problem without damaging it further.

How Do Pressure Marks Appear On The Laptop Screen?

Your laptop is a very fragile device, and if not used with care, you can easily damage it. There are multiple ways due to which pressure marks can appear on your laptop screen, two of which include:

Applying Excessive Weight

LCDs can get damaged very easily, as in laptops, they are present in between two glass sheets. Thus when you apply too much pressure on the lid of the laptop, chances are that you will damage the LCD of your laptop without even noticing it.

Since the laptop’s lid is a flat surface, people tend to place books and other stuff on top of it. Most times nothing happens, but if the pressure exceeds the LCD’s limit, there are chances that you will damage it, resulting in the pressure marks appearing on the display.

Applying Excessive Pressure

The other reason, due to why the pressure marks can appear on the screen is because you have applied too much pressure on the screen. Whether you are trying to do something by using your finger on the screen or pinpointing something to show it to some other person through your screen, you can easily damage it.

Thus, whenever you touch the screen, try to do it as gently as possible as the laptop screen is a fragile thing, and you can damage it by applying too much pressure on it. These are the two main reasons, due to why the pressure marks can appear on the screen. However, shutting the lid off aggressively can also cause pressure marks.

Therefore, whenever you are using your laptop, use it with care, or you will have to spend extra money for repairing it, which is no less than a punishment.

First, take your laptop, and put it face down on a flat surface most probably a table. After that, make sure that the device is not connected you have disconnected the device from any power source. Then if the laptop’s battery is removable, it is better to remove it as well for safety purposes.

Step 2:

For this step, you need to stay pretty attentive so that you don’t damage the circuit of the laptop. Unscrew the rare panel of your laptop, and store the screws in a safe place so that you don’t end up losing them.

Now look for the printed circuit board inside the laptop and unscrew its screws as well. But here is the complicated part make sure that you are disconnecting all the wires and cables to the upper PCB. Once you have done it successfully, move on to the next step.

Step 3:

For this step, you might need someone’s help. Once you have removed the PCB circuit, remove the screen from the device. Now by using a vacuum cup, remove the LCD very carefully and take help from someone else for the safety of your device.

Step 4:

Once you have removed the LCD, you will find a sheet filled with LEDs. With great care, remove the sheet and place it on a clean and flat surface. After that, check if any LED is out of place or order; if so, try to put it back in place without applying too much pressure or effort.

Step 5:

Once you have done it and can’t find any other LED out of place, redo all the above-mentioned steps in a reverse order very carefully to put everything back together. Power on your device to see if the pressure mark is gone. There is a solid chance that this method will solve your problem, but if not there is no other way to get your screen replaced.

What Causes White Spots On Laptop Screen?

The only reason for the white spot to appear on your laptop screen is, due to the damaged reflector present on your LCD panel. The white pressure marks appear when the reflectors move away from their original place, leaving extra space between the arrays in the LCD panel. Thus, the stuck pixels on the screen cause white dots to appear on the display.

Can You Fix Marks On The Laptop Screen?

Is there anything you can do about the marks on the laptop? Well, not all marks are pressure marks; thus, the answer is, yes and no. First, pressure marks are different, and if you want to deal with them, follow the method above. Screen stains are a different kind of mark that is a regular occurrence if you use your laptop regularly.

That’s because contact with your fingertips leaves a layer of skin oil (sebum) behind that then dries, causing it to discolor. If left unattended for long enough, it’ll become harder to remove too.

So, don’t panic when you notice them – follow our advice for some simple ways to get rid of these pesky marks once and for all.

First, you should try to wipe away any excess sebum from your screen using a clean cloth or tissue. You may need to repeat it several times, but it should eventually come off.

How Do I Remove Smears From The Laptop Screen?

The best way to remove smears from your laptop screen is to rub a little glass cleaner or alcohol-based gel over it. Use a microfiber cloth for best results; you should be able to see if any other streaks need cleaning after wiping down one area.

You can also use compressed air, but be sure not to put any water directly onto your computer because that could damage it. If you don’t have any handy items, try rubbing a dry paper towel or tissue over your screen.

It may take some elbow grease and time, but eventually, you should be able to wipe away most of those pesky marks leaving your display screen neat and clean.

Why Does My Laptop Screen Have Bright Spots?

You can’t see them at a glance, but your laptop’s screen is not smooth up close. It has tiny dots all over it: Raised lines caused by oil and other residue left when your finger touches an LCD screen.

Oils from your skin, dirt and even dust cause those spots. They become brighter over time as they get more exposed to light rays that create a yellow tinge in some areas.

Touching your screen leaves these tiny spots—some so small you can’t see them without a magnifying glass; others are obvious without any tools.

Conclusion

There are certain things that you need to take care of when using a laptop. Make sure your laptop is clean and try to keep it in a safe place after use. Follow the method given above to deal with the pressure makrs on laptop screen, and if that doesn’t work, take professional help.

There are other marks that can appear on the screen as well; thus, check thoroughly if it is a permanent issue or if you can solve it by other means like cleaning. To keep pressure marks away from your laptop screen, try not to put pressure on it when typing. Your fingers are known pressure contributors; thus, be gentle when touching the screen.

Also, try not to put anything over your laptop so that no excess pressure is applied to it. Follow these precautions, and hopefully, no pressure mark will appear on your display screen.
